German term

Druckansatz

German to English Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing Operating Instructions
From a manual on industrial printers:

Schmitzringe haben die Aufgabe, die druckenden Zylinder unter Vorspannung druckstabil zu halten, d. h. Erschütterungen, welche beispielsweise vom *Druckansatz* an den Kanälen kommen, abzufangen.

Cylinder bearers are responsible..., i.e. to deaden vibrations such as travel to the channels from *Druckansatz*

I cannot unlock the meaning of this term here. Any help is greatly appreciated:-)

I don't know the term (if there's any) but I try to explain it to you: the bearer rings have to deaden vibrations from the *Druckansatz* at the channels. The channels are the part of the cylinder which is cut off and where the printing plate is fixed. The *Druckansatz* is the line where the two rotating cylinders meet again and where the printing picture starts . . . hope it helps . . .

I dimly remember this as the nip, at the nip. (Hope someone else can jump in).
