French term
pacte civil de solidarité

Law/Patents
Law: Contract(s)
Sale of real estate
This is a pre-contract for the sale of a house in France. Under the description of the vendor (who is French and domiciled in France) is the following:
Non soumis a un pacte civil de solidarité, ainsi déclaré
Logic tells me that this is saying that the vendor is not bound by any agreement that he owns the property jointly with anybody else (e.g. his wife) but what is the best translation into UK English for pacte civil de solidarité?
Thanks in advance!

Selected
civil partnership (PACS)
here is what I would put.
Note from asker:
Thanks Eutychus & Tony: the vendor is single (it says so in the contract) so I guess it's just confirming that he hasn't entered into a Civil Partnership either. All is clear now! |

: Yes, it's quite sufficient, since the whole point is that there ISN'T one! It's just like saying 'not married', too.
