I think it could be refer to

when your soul leaves your body to travel in other levels, some people say this happens when you dream you are flying and when you fall down your soul returns to your body if that doesn´t happen a silver line or cord will break and you would die. it's a belief, personally I don't believe it

In spanish is called "desdoblamiento" or "viaje astral"

a possibility..

out-of-body experience (OBE)
Surveys show that about 15% to 20% of the population have had an OBE at some time during their life (Blackmore, 1982).

A feeling of departing from one’s physical body and observing both one’s self and the world from outside of one’s body. The experience is quite common in dreams, daydreams, and memories, where we quite often take the external perspective. Some people experience an OBE while under the influence of an anesthetic or while semi-conscious due to trauma. Some people have an OBE while under the influence of drugs. OBEs have been induced by electrically stimulating the right angular gyrus (located at the juncture of the temporal and parietal lobes).* Finally, some people experience an OBE when they are near death (near-death experiences or NDEs).

Function of the silver cord (theoretical considerations)

The etheric \"substance\" penetrating the physical body has been experienced (by occultists) as connected to vitality. A lack of etheric substance in human body is postulated to cause weakness or sickness. On the other hand an accumulation, induced by a number of exercises in Yoga, Taoism, Kung Fu etc., seems to lead to mediumistic and paraphysical abilities. While OBE-ing (etheric OBE) a part of the vital body separates, forming a fog-like double, the etheric body. To prevent a permanent loss of etheric substance, bound to the double, there seems to be a \"saving\" mechanism, in which the silver cord takes part, connecting the dissociated ektoplasm to its source in the physical body. Thus a separation of etheric matter with no return is prevented.

agree Kirill Semenov : refers to Out of the Body Experiences. Not that complicated case here, though, I guess. :)

could be more simple, but is nice to keep options open.. :) thanks Kirill, that's the word I was thinking of "out of body experiences"
agree Refugio : RC asks for "hidden meaning", and this could be it. The other answers only elaborate the obvious surface meaning.

Thank you Ruth!!! :)
agree pcovs : This answer seems to cover everything, not just scratching the surface. Didn't know about the cord breaking.

Thank you PCovs!! :) there's many theories about the silver cord, very interesting... :)

dreams about falling from high

It is a common belief you will die in fact, if you dream you are falling from high and do not wake up until the very moment you fall onto the ground (in your dream) at the end of the fall. But the belief is not true.

And yes, dreams about falling from a high building indeed are a common theme of people\'s dreams.

As for OOBE you may read Robert Monroe\'s famous \"Journeys Out of the Body\". The Web is also full of articles on OBE (OOBE), \"lucid dreams\" and \"astral projections\" (this is how it was called first, a century ago). By the way, Robert Monroe does not support the \"silver cord\" theory, in fact. Another classical work is \"Astral Projection\" by Sylvan Muldoon -- a lot about the silver cord.

See explanation

Falling dreams are dreams during which a person experiences the sensation of falling. Apparently there is a popular myth (story) that a person will die if he or she doesn't wake up before he/she hits the ground during the imaginary fall. This is of course a rather silly idea.

Dreams in which one sees himself/herself falling down are common.

Dreams have infinitely different contents, but these contents can be grouped into "themes." Among the common themes of dreams is being in a free fall. It is a scary kind of dream.

There is a myth that goes: If you have such a dream and wake up before you hit the ground, you will die. That is just a myth. It is not true.

Correction: As Rottie pointed out below, it should be \"fail to wake up.\" I apologize.

neutral Rottie (X) : ".. and you don´t wake up.. you will die" OR "and wake up ... you will not die"

Read it below

"Falling dreams" are those in which you dream you're falling from a cliff, a mountain or even from a curb in the middle of the street. Having such dreams is not a sign that you will die shortly, even if you actually fall all the way through and hit the ground while you're dreaming.

agree Сергей Лузан : Quite a pleasant observation!
