leading off, giving off

"Two septal branches were observed, leading off from the left anterior descending artery."

Mind you, I'm not a cardiologist. I'm just looking at it from a language point of view.

move away;deviate

Either the word "deviate" or the phrase "move away" can be used instead of "given off".
Both these words explain that the septal branches are leading off from the artery.
*Two septal branches were observed deviating from the left anterior descending artery.
*Two septal branches were observed moving away from the left anterior descending artery.
