Delinquent taxes, including unpaid penalty and interest charges, are a lien on the property and are sold in accordance to all applicable laws and regulations during the subsequent calendar year. A tax lien sale will also occur if the taxpayer owes an amount equal to the interest and penalty, even if the amount of the tax bill has been paid. Property tax accounts taken to “tax sale” are subject to redemption interest and may be subject to additional costs incurred by the certificate holder.
