gamowini Sep 15, 2009:
Job Postings by som preložila ako PONUKA PRACOVNÝCH MIEST
Slavomir BELIS Sep 9, 2009:
Slavomir BELIS Sep 9, 2009:
To všetci vidíme inde. Ja som si myslel, že tu riešime "job postings", nie "job wrapping" alebo niečo iné. A poskytnutá definícia výrazu "job posting" je: Arrangement in which a firm internally posts a list of open positions (with their descriptions and requirements) so that the existing employees who wish to move to different functional areas may apply. Also called job bidding.
Rad Graban (X) Sep 9, 2009:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Job_wrapping Job wrapping is a term used commonly to describe a process by which jobs can be captured from employer website and posted to the job boards that the employer wants to advertise them.

Corporate recruiters and HR professionals who send job listings to multiple Internet employment sites can sometimes delegate those chores to the employment sites themselves under an arrangement called "job wrapping". Job wrap ensures that employer job openings and updates get wrapped up regularly and posted on the job boards that they have designated.
Slavomir BELIS Sep 9, 2009:
Lenže, z tvojho návrhu to nevyplýva. V poskytnutej definícii je jasne napísané "in which a firm internally posts a list of open positions (with their descriptions and requirements) so that the existing employees who wish to move to different functional areas may apply."
Rad Graban (X) Sep 9, 2009:
Nepriehliahol. Vychádzajúc z ďalšieho termínu "job wrapping" ( napr. http://www.nytimes.com/marketing/jobmarket/employercentral/j... ) som predopkladal, 6e to nebude inzerované iba interne.
Slavomir BELIS Sep 9, 2009:
Z poskytnutej definície jasne vyplýva, že ide o internú inzerciu, teda o inzerciu v rámci spoločnosti a podobne, čo sa mi zdá, že ste nejako prehliadli.
kercakova (X) (asker) Sep 8, 2009:
Dakujem za rady a pomoc.
Rad Graban (X) Sep 8, 2009:
In my opinion, "posting" is, in this case, from the verb "to post" in one of the following meanings:

–verb (used with object)

7. to affix (a notice, bulletin, etc.) to a post, wall, or the like.

8. to bring to public notice by or as by a poster or bill: to post a reward.</br?
9. to denounce by a public notice or declaration: They were posted as spies.

10. to publish the name of in a list: to post a student on the dean's list.

11. to publish the name of (a ship) as missing or lost.

12. to placard (a wall, fence, etc.) with notices, bulletins, etc.: The wall was posted with announcements.

13. to put up signs on (land or other property) forbidding trespassing:: The estate has been posted by the owner.

14. Computers.

a. to send (a message) to a newsgroup.

b. to place (text) on a Web site.

Kontext Skutočne záleží od kontextu. Michalova "ponuka práce" a Vaša "inzercia pracovných ponúk" sú jednými z možností. Bez kontextu sa navrhuje ťažko.

Pracovná pozícia

Job posting is a job position or a job placement, as well as the act of filling that position (the placing of a person into it). The posting is not an offer, since when the offer is accepted, the recruit moves into the position, and is still being 'posted'. Neither is it merely the advertisement for the same reason. The posting exists before, during and after recruitment, dependent on context.

From my knowledge of recruitment in the UK, the 'posting' refers to both the position, and the act of filling it, or 'placing' a recruit into the position.
The 'posting' therefore, exists right up until the recruit starts work on their first day. The 'posting' outlasts the 'vacancy'. The 'vacancy' ends at the point of recruitment. 'Job posting' is also not the 'job offer', since the offer is only made to the recruit after interview and before the 'filling' of the position.

The role of a translator is twofold. Firstly, they provide a medium between two languages or speakers so that they can understand one another's meaning; but, in order not to distort those meanings subjectively, the translator must be as objective as possible in providing the most truthful representation in their translation.

Therefore, even if in Slovakia, their exists a Slovak phrase that literally translates to "job offer", and such a phrase is used to describe what in English would be termed "job posting", then it is my view that the conventional translation here is flawed, if the aim is to TRANSLATE from English into Slovak.

If one were to accept that using the Slovak phrase meaning "job offer" in English is sufficient to achieve the first aim of the translator - understanding, then it my view it negates the second aim which is to provide the most truthful and accurate representation.

I have provided the logic and meaning behind "job posting" and this is why, for me, the Slovak phrase for "job offer" or "vacancy" is insufficient to describe what in English refers to both the position and the act of filling it.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Rad Graban (X) : In my opinion, it's obvious from asker's explanation, that we are talking about the advertising of a vacancy somewhere.
