When blades fail, it is a high-energy event. Typically, everything downstream of the failed blade will itself fail, resulting in a "corncobbed" compressor.
Uma "corn cob" é uma espiga de milho. Estou com dificuldade de passar a imagem de como um compressor fica utilizando esta comparação.
Seria um compressor liso?

Indeed, that one is rented to most US airframe companies to do icing tests with new designs in a somewhat controlled environment (at least the icing spray). *snicker* I've seen other attmepts to do without it result in major problems - I personally know of at least one case where simulated ice shapes, from body putty, were injested by the test aircraft's engines and completely "corncobbed" the axial portion of each compressor; only the fact that the engines also had centrifugal compressors kept them running enough to limp home.
