I came across the term "impact sector" in one of my tasks today and couldn't find a good translation of it in French.

Were the person involved (Elodie Noquet) and her organization English, I might have doubts about the French. Even so, it is possible that they (and others) use this transcriptional translation when another term might be used in French elsewhere. However, the term abounds.

It is certain that the term comes as a surprise when you are not familiar with it, be it in English or in French. I, for instance, more readily associate 'impact' with environmental issues, CO2, etc., as a result of working in the fields I do. It is quite possible that the term will seem perfectly natural to those familiar with the field.

Dear Fanny,
As you know a sector has different meaning in English. It could be "a geometric figure, a subdivision of something, a portion or an area ..". So the best french word that tallies is the word "secteur" which has a similar meaning. As for the word impact implies a forceful contact of some sort. So the translation in French 'secteur d'impact". But having said that without the surrounding we cannot for sure be dogmatic about that, it could be that the context move us to translate it differently such as "secteur de l'impact". Der Schlüssel liegt im Namen "made_in_tandem_com", wobei das "Tandem" auf denselben Bereich in dieselbe Richtung wirkt, derselbe Effekt wie "distributed cooperation", auch wenn dies als "parallele Zusammenarbeit" interpretiert werden kann, nach dem Motto "Getrennt marschieren, vereint schlagen". Deshalb habe ich nicht versucht, den Begriff wörtlich zu übersetzen, sondern den Sinn im Französischen widerzugeben.
