jack salmons is a type of neotony (mature characteristics exhibited by juvenile salmon ( or other types of fishes) capable of reproducing) as opposed to juvenile salmons 幼/“少年”雄鲑鱼 that are not capable of reproducing.

Juvenile stage - A young fish, fundamentally resembling the adult in meristic characters (excluding squamation) but smaller and reproductively inactive.
