Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Oct 10, 2004:
Exactly, Nesrin.
Nesrin Oct 10, 2004:
If I may add something - I agree with the use of in this sentence, but my comprehension of the sentence is that the group of women DID want peace demonstrations, but a feminist variety of peace demonstrations. Just an opinion!
Non-ProZ.com Oct 10, 2004:
Yes, I agree. Thank you very much.
Moushira El-Mogy Oct 10, 2004:
my suggestion was based on the sentence saying "alternative to peace demonstrations" not for . other possibility: the group wanted feminist demonstration "instead" of the peace ones which is not clear from the sentence hence

مصطبغ بصبغة الحركة النسائية (in this context only)

I believe the sentence doesn't mean that the women preferred going to feminist demonstrations to peace demonstrations. Rather, it means they organised peace demonstrations with a "feminist touch" - i.e. "مجموعة نساء تسعى إلى تنظيم مظاهرات مصطبغة بصبغة الحركة النسائية

agree Mahmoud Helmi : my translation is as follows:لقد كن مجموعة من النساء اللائي جمعهن السعي للبحث عن شكل آخر مستمد من مبادئهن وأفكارهن النسوية لهذه المظاهرات السلمية
