When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

temporal relationship
Fundamental notions, such as the sense of agency and causality, depend on the temporal relationship of events occurring in well-defined windows of time.

Discussion
Every chronological relationship is a temporal relationship, but every temporal relationship is not a chronological relationship. That is, chronological is more specific, temporal is more general.
The author did not use the Dutch term "chronologische relatie", but "tijdsrelatie". I don't think it would be incorrect to translate it as "chronological relationship", but I think temporal r. might be better.
Also, I think freek's suggestion re: just leaving out the "relatie" part would also work fine.
time issue
When dealing with (the) time (issue)/temporal relations we often get fooled by our own intuitions. After all this is also the case with a phenomenon that is as transitory as a dream but does occur in real/waking life, namely the 'déjà vu'.
It means something like: something that has led a latent existence for a long time, something that has been in store for a long time. It has been there for a long time but so far it had not been noticed, it has been on the shelves for a long time but just now it found it's way to dream consciousness
If I look at the chronological order of the discussion entries :-)
This one followed on my first one:
"I assume the two are more or less synonymous."
You are talking of 'the two' while at that moment in time, that is in the unreal, physical world, only 'chronological' had been mentioned.
Could it be that temporal already existed in the real, non-physical world, that is in your mind? :-)
3a: of or relating to time as distinguished from space
3b: of or relating to the sequence of time or to a particular time: CHRONOLOGICAL
chronological:
of, relating to, or arranged in or according to the order of time
Chronology is the science of arranging events in their order of occurrence in time.
1. (Of a record of events) following the order in which they occurred
1.1 Calculated in terms of the passage of time
1.2 Relating to the establishment of dates of past events
temporal:
Relating to time
