Danish term

fejloprette, fejlopretning

Danish to English Tech/Engineering Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright
In office action: a patent application entry was deleted, then the next line says: fejlopret: nej.

Also used in other contexts such as troubleshooting computers:

Usikkerhedsfaktorerne kontrolleres ved fejlsøgning og _fejlopretning_
gennem edb-kørsler og ved manuel kontrol af diverse lister mv.
tilpasset usikkerhedskilderne. Samtidig er der en efterkontrol af
kvaliteten af fejlsøgningen og _fejlopretningen_ for at sikre, at
disse processer ikke i sig selv forårsager datafejl.

Discussion

I think the Non-ProZ member nailed it exactly, reinstate, re-enter, restore following deletion of a record. Did not notice that answer back then.

#2 I've sent an inquiry to the Danish Patent Office. We'll see. In my experience DK is not a country very much inclined to answer e-mails, oddly enough.
Dana Sackett Lössl May 9, 2005:
Hi Yngve. I think fejlretning and fejlopretning are the same. Do an Internet search, and you will find fejlsgning/fejlretning used together. As I understand your sentence, the application is asking whether or not to restore the entry that was deleted.
Suzanne Blangsted (X) May 9, 2005:
Retning usually translates to "direction", e.g. directions on searching for errors and directions for correction of errors. - well, that is just my opinion.
Suzanne Blangsted (X) May 9, 2005:
You will probably find the same answers here as you received in the DA translation group on Yahoo, but I believe it is the search for errors and then the correction of errors that the program is written for and therefore agreed with the given reply.
Non-ProZ.com May 9, 2005:
#1 Is fejlretning and fejlopretning the same?
Are they perpahs asking whehter to restore or reinstate this application due to a mistake in "fejloret: nej." Or make corrections in the application, due to a mistake perhaps.
