Hercynian ductile deformation
I am not 100% sure about the best way to translate 'esquistositat de flux regional'. The text is about the stones from Estremoz (and the effects of Hercynian ductile deformation).
Many thanks in advance!

esquistositat

It seems that a distinction is sometimes made between "slaty cleavage" and "flow cleavage". Whereas in other cases they're treated as being synonymous:

Note from asker:
Thanks, Ross - I was also thinking about translating this as some form of cleavage. But I hadn't come across slaty cleavage. Seems possible! I'll look at your references now. |

Andrew Campbell
: While I it is always risky making equivalence between different languages use of a word, cleavage definitely sounds right in English.

Doncs no estic segura si seria això. Però potser sí! |

Dic. de Geologia Institut d'estudis Catalans, 1997: "esquistositat de flux" sinonim complert "clivatge de flux"
so I would go for the more modern "flow cleavage", especially as e.g. esqistositat de fractura = fracture cleavage etc.etc. Schistocity seems to have fallen out of fashion somewhat, perhaps because it implies a specific rock type.
HTH :)
