English translation: passing along

English language (monolingual) [Non-PRO]
Medical - Medical (general)
English term or phrase: transmission
Cholera is an illness caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholerae that can be spread to humans by contaminated water or food via faecal-oral transmission

In which sense transmission has been used? Thanks to all of you.
Ketan
Selected answer:passing along
Explanation:
This is the way the germ is passed from one human to another. An infected person has the germ in their excrement. When hygiene is poor, the germs are on the person's hands, then if they prepare food, the germ passes onto the food, then others eat the contaminated food... hence the faecal-oral transmission.

Similarly, in poor sanitary conditions, the infected excrement gets into the water supply.
