God julhelg

God helg!
"God helg" is primarily used for Christmas greetings.
Another more free translations could be "Ha en skön semester" if the greeting refers to time off work/regular summer holiday.

For me, the word \"semester\" connotes a certain time off work, generally spent at the country side or abroad.
\"God helg\" or \"God Jul och Gott Nytt År!\" works better for end-of-year greetings.

Tess Whitty
: God helg is a good option that does not interfere with any religion

Thanks Terese! :) I said "primarily used for Christmas greetings"; but you are right , it is neutral from a religious point of view.

God jul!
refers merely to Christmas, is literally Merry Christmas.
I know that New Year is not included, but there is really no combined greeting for Christmas and New Year.
You can of course say: God jul och gott nytt år!
if you want to wish somebody "Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year".
So far my explanation. Well, I'll do my very best - as poor James the butler said before entering the stairs

Om du avser julledighet/jullov:
Trevlig julhelg/Trevligt jullov eller Trevlig/god helg

Trevlig helg! or God helg! are the most neutral alternatives I think.

Jan Sundström
: Holidays är ju ett bredare begrepp som kan innebära längre än en helg. Jag håller på semester.
