Cited normative documents

I remember the China FDA website uses "normative documents" for "规范性文件".

Weiwei didn\'t give a context. I am not sure what she is translating, but as I know, many Chinese national standards have the same wording as follows and I\'d like to provide the paragraph for your reference:

2、 规范性引用文件
下列文件中的条款通过标准的引用而成为本标准的条文。凡是注日期的引用文件,其随后所有的修改单(不包括勘误的内容)或修订版不适用于本部分,然而,鼓励根据本标准达成协议的各方研究是否使用这些文件的最新版本。凡是不注明日期的引用文件,其最新版本适用于标准。

Just for your reference, the following UNOFFICIAL translation of the above paragraph is provided by the US Embassy in China at http://www.fas.usda.gov/GainFiles/200304/145885196.pdf

2. Documents Cited by this Standard
The clauses in the following documents that were cited by this Standard became clauses of this Standard. For cited documents with a date, all their subsequent modifications or revisions do not apply to this Standard. However, parties having reached an agreement based on cited standards with a date are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of the cited documents with a date are applicable. For cited documents without a date, the latest versions apply to this Standard.

disagree Wenjer Leuschel (X) : Nope, Oze. We need to search for the right term. It's about documents of standards.

Standard Compliance

An usual documentation would start with "Scope" and then followed by "Standard Compliance" like the following link shows.

http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/802-1953/6i5uv2sjg?l=zh&a=view

The chapter (or section) of "Standard Compliance" states the "norms" or "standards" which the product is in compliance with. Such norms or standards are cited as "normative documents".

Well, it is all right to name this chapter (or section) "Cited Normative Documents". But I would rather have it captioned "Standard Compliance".

normative references; normative referencing documents

I think it should be "normative references" or "normative referencing documents"

normative reference: A normative reference is a document whose definitions are normative to the referencing document.
Peer comment(s):

agree Mark Xiang : I agree with this one because "cited" does not interprete the original meaning, as I understand it.
