Yes, indeed, I think 'home-smoked duck breast' is perfect on the Menu.

Sure, but it's not really "home-made", in that you can't "make" a smoked-duck. I really think "home-smoked" captures the essence of the dish, and I really think it would look much better on a menu.

Effectivement, c'est simplement l'expression en question qui est � traduire.
Comme il s'agit uniquement de la pr�paration du magret fum� (qui n'est pas produit par le propri�taire du restaurant), je pr�f�re 'home-made' ...
Mais je pr�f�re 'breast' � 'cutlet'.

neutral Aoife Kennedy : I don't really like the word "cutlet". I have always seen "magret" translated as "breast". Cutlet brings lamb chops to mind. Note added: You're right, Francis. I'm not too keen on "home-made" either, in this context :)

la question essentielle posée par le demandeur était la traduction de "maison", le reste est à son choix
neutral Tony M : Like Aoife, I find cutlet misleading, especially as this is sometimes used for a different cut of duck too! And clearly it is 'home-smoked', which needs to keep the inverted commas as in the French if it's not true!

If this is for a menu, then the first version (home-smoked breast of duck) is the right choice ... in my humble opinion :)

"chef's special "smoked duck breast

"Home" implique "maison résidentielle" tandis que "maison" signifie "restaurant", donc "façon du chef".
