Explanation: How about: Different data formats, various applications to obtain the same results and non-standardized systems make it virtually impossible to transfer data between systems and render electronic data processing, even partial automation, an unattainable dream. I know, a bit far from the German, but it may fit. |

comment Explanation: On further consideration, I change my comment to JJCantrell's suggestion to 'agree'. To my mind, all of the various translations of Medienbruch proposed on Proz fail to convey the meaning of the original and/or sound forced or unnatural in English, so paraphrasing seems to be the best solution. The only objection I have to JJ's suggestion, as already noted, is that IMHO 'impossible dream', besides being trés cliché, is probably inappropriate (in tone) in this context. |
