I am not 100% sure of the best way to translate 'buscar hondo' here - I thought of maybe saying 'look for a style that will really take off'. Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated!

This is a somewhat liberal translation, but let me explain my thinking. Hondo generally means something like deep or profound. The immediately preceding bit says "get away from simplicity" or something like that. The opposite of simplicity in this sort of context would seem to be sophistication. Perhaps sophisticated clothing has more "depth" to it or something. But I have a sneaking feeling that this might be the idea. Let's see what other ideas come up though.
