Portuguese term

dilapidação de patrimônio

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Law (general) Bankruptcy Proceedings
"Foi juntado aos autos ofício oriundo da Polícia Federal denunciando acerca da dilapidação de patrimônio da Falida que estaria ocorrendo em prejuízo aos credores. "

It is not that the property was being damaged (dilapidation) but rather that it was missing from the deposits. The text is part of a motion within a bankruptcy proceeding.

Mark Robertson Aug 10, 2020:
@Marcos Bazílio Dilapidation is a legal term in our context. Your commercial property reference demonstrates that and agrees with the second reference I posted. The fact that delapidação / dilapidation are cognates in other contexts does not get you far, as they are not equivalent legal terms in our context.

note ainda quesquandering e dilapidação (ou delapidação) são sinônimos segundo os dicionários

Commercial property
In the commercial property world, ‘dilapidations’ refers to breaches of lease covenants relating to the condition of a property, and the process of remedying those breaches.[2]

Tenants enter commercial leases agreeing to keep premises in repair; if they do not, the law of dilapidations applies

Dilapidation Including Asset Life Cycles
Dilapidation Including Life Cycle Management
When a commercial lease comes closer towards termination, it is required that the property is restored and repaired to be fit for use once more. This involves a surveyor visiting the property to examine which aspects of the interior and exterior need amending. Dilapidations are enforced when a tenant has not completed the necessary work, and a landlord is entitled to a claim.

Ensure a clear plan of how your ***assets*** should be managed, with a schedule of when they should be checked and assessed.

Mark Robertson Aug 9, 2020:
@Marcos Basílio The source word is a legal term. The correct target should be the equivalent term in the target language. As a legal term, dilapidation means either failure to repair or maintain ecclesiastical property, or neglect or demolition of a property let by a landlord to a tenant. Neither case applies here. Na tradução técnica, só raramente é que a tradução literal vale.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hello Adrian, thank you. I believe dissipation is broad enough to use in the context. There are many assets involved, and the from in which they´ve might´ve suffered "dilapidação" vary a little, so the term fits well. Thanks to all who collaborated in the discussion"
