"quadro arrastado"

Portuguese to English Science Medical (general)
Os colegas saberiam me explicar o que significa "quadro arrastado" em um contexto médico? O texto é um histório médico onde se lê "há 1 mês o paciente apresentou infecção respiratória com quadro arrastado de coriza e tosse seca".

Agradeço desde já.

@ Muriel You're right. But please note the disease is not in the question/term. The ter is only "quadro arrastado". I just added flu because the construction required a noun in that position. It could even be "X".
Muriel Vasconcellos Jan 22, 2020:
@Mario I agree with your suggestion of 'long-lasting', but a runny nose and dry cough could be symptoms of an allergy or a cold. Flu symptoms typically start with a fever, sore throat, and body aches. Later a productive cough (not a dry one) can develop. It looks like the patient had an infection and now has some other complication.
Mario Freitas Jan 21, 2020:
@ Nick Usually "arrastado" means it's taking too long or longer than usual. Can't be sure it was used with that meaning here, but it does sound like the flu symptoms are taking longer than usual to go away.

@dlincks No idea! But does this help?
No refluxo, a dor de garganta e a tosse têm características diferentes. Geralmente não há febre, posto que não há infecção. O quadro é mais lento, arrastado, com sintomas constantes, sem os sinais clássicos de congestão, espirros e coriza.

'Quadro' is short for 'quadro clínico' as per the link, describing a set of symptoms.

Portuguese term (edited): quadro arrastado

[with a] long-lasting [runny nose and dry cough]

You can omit "quadro" entirely.

A runny nose and dry cough could easily be an allergy. Probably not a cold, as it would not have lasted that long. The cough after a cold or the flu is usually productive, not dry.
