German term

SW

German to English Social Sciences Psychology statistics - abbreviation
I can't identify this abbreviation:

[The WAI is the Working Alliance Inventory.]
Die Therapeutin schätzte die therapeutische Beziehung (WAI-SRT: SW = 44, Range = 10–50) als sehr positiv ein.

[The EQ-5D-SL is various measures of the quality of life.]

Thanks!

Björn Vrooman Nov 12, 2019:
Thanks for telling us! Happens quite rarely =)
Susan Welsh (asker) Nov 12, 2019:
Standardwert it is It is indeed Standardwert. I had provisionally used "standardized score," with the abbreviation SS (with a query), which the authors accepted.
Susan Welsh (asker) Oct 16, 2019:
still waiting for reply from authors Proz keeps reminding me to close this, but I haven't forgotten. When I know what it should be, I will close it.
Susan Welsh (asker) Sep 30, 2019:
I can't decide One of the Figures elsewhere in the article has the label "Summenwerte" in the context of PHQ-8, so that might be what's wanted here. I am going to have to leave it as a query for the authors, and will post it here if they answer me. Thanks to all for your help. I won't close the question yet.
Björn Vrooman Sep 28, 2019:
Hello Susan Any new developments? I'm curious. Does standard score (or Z-score to T-score) work?

Even after looking at the following links, I'm not entirely sure what's best:
https://www.statisticshowto.datasciencecentral.com/probabili...
https://mt01001165.schoolwires.net/site/handlers/filedownloa...
http://faculty.virginia.edu/PullenLab/WJIIIDRBModule/WJIIIDR...

Quantitative methods weren't my strong suit :-/

Anytime Here's a Wiki link about Normenskalen in psychology:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normwertskala

It says "SW (Standardwerte), auch Z." I think mean is probably wrong, but Z-score looks likely because "Z-scores are also known as standardized scores; they are scores (or data values) that have been given a common standard."

Susan Welsh (asker) Sep 27, 2019:
to Björn Thanks, very helpful as always!
Björn Vrooman Sep 27, 2019:
Susan The WAI-SRT was developed by Adam O. Horvath, a Canadian, so there's no excuse for posting an answer not specifically referencing the English source material.

Does this help you: https://wai.profhorvath.com

Yes, SW is Standardwert, as you can see here in the table: https://www.bisp-sportpsychologie.de/SpoPsy/DE/Diagnostikpor...

[Edit] Something to do with standard score. See: https://m.portal.hogrefe.com/dorsch/standardwert
http://faculty.virginia.edu/PullenLab/WJIIIDRBModule/WJIIIDR...

See also the files on Horvath's page (first link in this post).

Summenwert? This possibility just occurred to me, but it's only a guess. I usually translate that as "cumulative value."
Armorel Young Sep 27, 2019:
Sollwert? Giving that the quality of a therapeutic relationship is being assessed, do you think it is Sollwert - target value? This could also to the later situations relating to insomnia and quality of life.

Thanks. See last item in Discussion. Someone else closed this, not me, but Standardwert is correct. Standardized score (SS).
