French term or phrase: croissance par acquisition organique
Context: annual corporate presentation
Phrase: "Les thèmes sont posés, Croissance organique et croissance par acquisition organique, celle que nous venons de vivre avec succés ces 5 dernières années."

I don't have any info about what happened in the last 5 years...

I found "bolt-on acquisitions" as a suggested term in a few places like here: http://www.estin.com/pdf/publications/Troismodeles.pdf

But then I haven't seen this back-translated as "croissance par acquisition organique" elsewhere.
For example: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/english-to-french/business-commer...

Is "bolt-on acquisitions" the best term or would you suggest something else?

Thanks for your help!

neutral  philgoddard: I think this is a contradiction in terms. Most of the hits say things like "accelerate organic growth through acquisition", ie use acquisitions to accelerate organic growth.

growth by systematic take-over; through a (co-ordinated) string of acquisitions

Explanation:
If indeed it is the acquisition and not the growth that is 'organic'.

My own hunch born of M&A experience in the company dept. of a City of London law firm (almost half a century ago, with a standard GBP 3,000 per take-over charge with changes of name and amounts only) is that 'organic' is a euphemism for 'compulsive-obsessive' - no corporate names mentioned, but the controversial record of one asset-stripper sticks out a mile.

Otherwise I like 'bolt-on', even if it has Frankenstein bolt-headed echoes.

disagree  Francois Boye: an acquisition is not necessarily a takeover.//your mistake came from your M&A approach due to your City experience. Many private, personal/family companies are acquired all over the world without a take over process.

-> Oh, dear! As soon as I saw the disagree, I knew it was you. Anyway, every acquisition I worked on had been a take-over, but maybe your M&A experience is different.//OK: *systematic* acquisition instead of take-over (hyphenated) - petty point solved.
