Hi all,

How would you translate this? The context is Decree No. 370 from May 2, 1890 in Brazil. "Observação: operações de crédito móvel"

This is the full text of Decree 370 from 1890.

I have no idea why they omitted "agrícola" in the first 2 occurences of the term, but if you scroll down to Chapter II you will see the full term "operações de credito agricola movel"......so this is about agricultural loans.

"Movel" obviously refers to "movable property".....see Dicionário do Marcilio on how to translate these terms:
A tradução de bem móvel e imóvel:
• bem móvel 􀃆 personal property; personalty;
chattel; movable property; movables (usado
no plural apenas).
• bem imóvel 􀃆 real estate; real property; realty;
immovable property, immovables (usado
no plural apenas).
Os termos movable property, movables, immovable
property e immovables são típicos
do Civil Law. No restante dos EUA, os termos
usados são personal property, real estate, real
property, chattel, realty, personalty. Para uma
tradução clara e objetiva, traduza bem móvel
por personal property; e bem imóvel por real
property.
------------------------------------------
BTW the old spelling for "imóvel" that they used here in this 1890 decree is "immovel". If you do a CTRL + F search you will see 76 occurences of the word.

In English we just say agricultural or farm credit/loans without mentioning whether these apply to "movable property" or what have you.

Agricultural credit is any of several credit vehicles used to finance agricultural transactions, including loans, notes, bills of exchange and banker's acceptances. This types of financing is adapted to the specific financial needs of farmers, which are determined by planting, harvesting and marketing cycles. Short-term credit finances operating expenses, intermediate-term credit is used for farm machinery, and long-term credit is used for real-estate financing.
