I am translating a TV user's guide. I need to know what E stands for in the "yyyy-MM-dd E HH:mm" string.

The symbol before the E(in Phil G's link) means week, cf. the symbol before the M means month and before the d means day

I think the answer may be here, where they have E, EE and EEE, but I can't work out what it means. The Chinese character after the date means lap or counter, apparently.

Sorry, the letter in question is "E".

Look at the link below. This is used in Java to show the day of the week (ex. Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.)
Example sentence:

H is abbreviation for hour and M is abbreviation for minute
