Spanish term

comisión (de alumnos)

Target market is the global community of education researchers, with a preference for American English
Darius Saczuk Mar 6, 2018:
@Asker What is the target market? "Forms", for example, would not work in US educational contexts.

forms/classes

Thank you!
agree bizisyl : 'Classes' seems to be the best option in this context as the original text seems to be describing college or university level groups of students.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you Mónica and everyone else who offered options. I ended up using "classes" although "sections" was a strong contender. "

cohort

I originally guessed at this from the description but having googled it feel a little more confident: Cohort (educational group), a group of students working together through the same academic curriculum. Would it work?

neutral Mónica Hanlan : I am pretty sure that cohort refers to the whole academic year which will then be divided into groups. I don't think it would work in this case...

agree philgoddard : I don't agree with Mónica. A cohort just means a group.

neutral philgoddard : You can say "divided into sections", as in your examples, but "six sections of math A" doesn't work in my opinion.

Hi, Phil, In my college we divide students into sections, e.g. Section A-1, Section A-2, and we do say, "5 sections of College Composition 1", for instance.

I'd leave it as simple as "Groups"
