A university calls the student who frequently and daily attends his/her classes as ***(regular student)***.As for the student who studies at his/her home and just goes up the university to have the test or exam, he/she is called s(non-regular student)
https://forum.wordreference.com/threads/non-regular-student....
Regular Enrollment
student within the defined program length who is pursing degree-related work, completing requirements, and making sufficient academic and/or research progress as specified by the department or program and the Graduate School. The student has registered by completing academic year sign-in and is in residence – that is, *** regularly present on campus, using University resources*** to fulfill degree requirements and objectives a majority of days per week for the academic term or year.
In Absentia Enrollment
***is NOT in residence*** for greater than half the term. Students may apply to be moved to in absentia status if they need to use educational resources not available in Princeton
https://gradschool.princeton.edu/academics/statuses/degree-s...
Regular student
A regular student is a person who has been admitted to a program of study leading to an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate at the University of Ottawa, and who is registered for one or more courses in that program.
Special student
A special student is a person who is allowed by the University to register for undergraduate courses in order to obtain university units, but who is not seeking an undergraduate degree, certificate or diploma from the University.
