Italian term

processo eterologo

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) CT scan results
Does this mean "tumor"?

The text from a CT report says: "Le pareti dell'uretere appaiono ispessite ed assumono enhancement contrastografico ... tale reperto è meritevole di consulenza specialistica nel sospetto di *processo eterologo*.

Is this another Italian circumlocution for tumor or cancer? How should I translate this?

Ciao Gilberto. Very helpful again.
Peer comment(s):

agree Lirka : I'd just go with "cancer"// I know, the same in German, but English tends to be less "encrypted". In German, they even write "Ethylismus" for alcoholics!

Thank you, lirka. In an Italian medical report this would be a tabu word (at least you could read Ca or K).
agree texjax DDS PhD : Io direi tumor o neoplasm/neoplastic. Eviterei malignancy dal momento che la diagnosi di tumore maligno è istologica/ Good to know. Thanks

Grazie texjax. In effetti il termine è usato proprio per il sospetto di tumore maligno; se il radiologo avesse pensato a qualcosa di diverso si sarebbe espresso con una terminologia differente.
