English term

venue

Non-PRO English Marketing General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
The underlying concept behind “XEBIO Arena Sendai” is to offer people a unique sports, concert, and event **venue** never before seen in Japan that maximizes the attractions of "arena sports" and "entertainment."

Should venue be changed to space?

Thank you for your help.

Daryo Aug 18, 2017:
@ philgoddard what would be the plural of "arena (adj.) sport(n.)" [as in "a sport played in an arena" - as opposed to sports practised on high sea / a river or lake / a mountain cliff / a snow slope ...]?

This ST is about the attraction of sports "that are played in an arena", not about the venue itself (the arena) being attractive.
philgoddard Aug 17, 2017:
It's not "arena sports", it's sports arena". Also, all the quotation marks in your version are incorrect.

why change to space?
venue is the best word here to collocate with the 3 events. We would not say sports space or concert space...

Thanks:-)
agree Jack Doughty : The asker needs an explanation of the word. A venue is a place where an event takes place.

Thanks:-) I think they know what it means?
agree Tina Vonhof (X) : Another word for it is 'facility'.// Yes, you're right, so venue is really the best term here.

Thank you! But facility would only be good with "sports". (I'd never use concert/event facility.)
