Explanation:
Szerintem Hunginak javaslata a helyes, ebben az esetben. (Más szövegkörnyezetben, pl. atomerőmű esetén a záróvíz is helyes lehet, de itt nem erről van szó.)
Mivel itt valami forgó tengelyről szól a mondat, és a vizet folyamatosan adagolni kell (átfolyatni), ezért gondolom, hogy a víz feladata nem a szigetelés (akkor szerintem nem folyna a víz), hanem a forgó alkaltrész körüli szigetelés hűtése, kenése.

Például a következő szövegben is erről van szó:
"Intelligent control of seal water systems
...Because water used to cool mechanical seals and lubricate seal faces must be filtered before use and then treated prior to disposal, ..."
Lásd első cím alul.

A másik megadott cím pedig hajómotor tengelyével kapcsolatos.
Van rajta ábra is, mutatja, hogy hogyan kell a vizet a tömítéshez odavezetni.
Ugyanezen weboldalon, ha a Water Kits termékeket választjuk, a vízbevezetéshez való csövekről, ill. egyéb alkatrészekről olvashatunk.
Így kezdődik:
"STRONGŽ Water Pick-Up Kits include everything needed for connecting STRONGŽ SureSeals™ to source water for proper lubrication of the lip seal."

Úgyhogy szerintem kenésről van szó, NEM a víz az, ami tömít.
