I was initially leaning towards "breakdown" as well. I think this term may be unique to Luxembourg, but it has also been difficult to track down as far as an English equivalent. I normally see "bulletin de paie", so this term was throwing me a bit. The source document I'm using uses the word "pay stub" so maybe that's all it means in this case? At the bottom of the first page (first table), it gives a net amount due. This seems a bit strange, as deductions usually are taken directly out of paychecks.

I think it's easy to lose sight of that fact sometimes. A while back I came across a video on youtube.com discussing that very topic (I believe it was a TED talk) and how searches can vary among different users according to various factors, as you mentioned.

I understand. I remember learning via Proz a couple of years back that the same search on Google will not necessarily throw up the same hits everywhere. Apparently it depends on stuff like where you are, what you usually look for, and so on. For me, I've just checked what happens with "social+security+luxembourg" in English, just to see. I'm surprised to see that even my search in English throws up French language sources too. These may help more generally with your context :

note that "social security" means different things in different states. In Luxembourg, it covers retirement pensions too for example. This suggests it might be a good idea to go with "(state/national) health insurance" rather than "social security" alone, and the FR is speifically about health insurance here.

I concur with the points made by Bohy. As this is with reference to Luxembourg, your first choice original language sources for meaning need to be luxembourgeoises. There is not mention of payment out, so "benefit" does not seem to be an appropriate way to go here.

Also, I'm a little confused by the choice of "remuneration settlement" for "décompte de rémunération". My English is British English, so I may just not be understanding US terminology. If that's the case, then take no notice of what follows. However, you might like to consider that "décompte" is basically a list in which various payments are itemised. Here that means that "décompte de rémunération" is basically a breakdown of what items comprise the soruce of the individual's salary. http://www.legilux.public.lu/leg/a/archives/2001/0136/a136.p... Whilst I'm not certain of the various possible meanings of the term "settlement" in US English, I know that it would not be correct here in British English.

Once again, I don't think you are searching correctly, and I don't think you read the page that I sent. This is not related to France, it's Luxembourg (different legislation). Second, it's not about social security benefits, it's social security contributions based on salary and in-kind benefits. If you don't understand what you're translating, how will you be able to choose among answers?

On y trouve la définition de ce que l'on appelle la "rémunération en espèces" et les "avantages en nature" (par ex. voiture, logement de fonction, etc.) au Luxembourg.
Les taux de cotisation maladie diffèrent sur ces deux composantes de la rémunération totale du salarié.
Bonne lecture (de toute la page), je suppose que la traduction de ces termes ne vous posera alors plus de problèmes.
