English term

destructive search

English to French Tech/Engineering Environment & Ecology
Bonjour,

To avoid any of these impacts on reptiles, removal of vegetation in any of the developable areas and the new access tracks should be conducted by a destructive search under an ecological watching brief undertaken by a local ecologist.

Approche de destruction ?!

Merci,

Suzy

All you destroyers: Why not post something you think equivalent in French. I purposely toned it down in my "dérangement".
Why not use this sort of wording: http://www.wwf.fr/nos_priorites/especes_menacees/agir_sur_le...

I think you've understood it, Asker It's the search that's destructive, i.e. the search will destroy something. I don't see it as some sort of study i.e. a walk round followed by a report written at a desk; I think that each bit of vegetation to be removed from the site will be searched - pulled to bits if necessary - to make sure that no creatures are clinging to the underside of stems or have crawled inside.
Daryo Aug 13, 2015:
"destructive" usually mean exactly that - something gets destroyed.

Certain natural disasters can also disturb wildlife, but here we will only be concerned with human-source disturbance. slv2000.qc

disagree Daryo : something "destructive" is going to cause more than a mere "dérangement"

DURING the works! i.e. search for destruction of habitat.

Note from asker:
Thanks a lot Kashew, so it is actually the search of reptiles before the destruction of a site if I understand...
