process connections

I have also problems to understand the question due to lack of context. We should know the dimensions of measurement and the type of measurement at least. For example I can measure a pipe diameter in mm, but not a 'connection' to a process. Otherwise, I can measure the resistance of an electrical connection or the density of vapour, but not its dimensions.

Thanks a lot for your explanation, which in the absence of proper context from the Asker, does make perfect sense; but what (in EN) are these 'axes' you are talking about? are these some kind of level-indicating floats?

C'est une façon habituelle d'étalonner un niveau liquide en industrie, d'où ma mémoire sur ce sujet. C'est une mesure physique faite depuis l'extérieur entre l'axe haut de sortie et le bas de cuve ou bien l'axe bas de l'entrée. C'est mal exprimé dans le contexte.

Ah things begin to get clearer now! But how does Asker expect us to give meaningful answers if we don't get all the context all the time? I am far to busy to follow every single one of her questions so as to not miss anything.

However, if there are 'lignes d'axes', what are these, and what then are these special connections?

I think Asker needs to give us a whole lot of her previous context otherwise we are all just wasting our time.

What we need to know is:

Is this document for the manufacturer of the instrument, or of the process? I.e. is it some specific instrument on any kind of process; or vice-versa?

And WHAT is the dimension being measured? It simply isn't possible to "measure a connection" — unless you are talking about its physical dimensions (bore, diameter, etc.). If that is not the case, then just what are these 'connections that can be measured in some unusual and exotic way?

What is the substance being measured? From other questions, it looks possibly like fluid pressure, but it would be very helpful to know — and gas or liquid?

What is this instrument for?

That is not an answer! It is just an exact repeat of the source text you have already given; you will need to ask your instrumentation engineer the right questions in order to elicit meaningful and useful answers; it is not possible to say my answer "is not correct" on the basis of the tiny amount of information you have given us; it may or may not be correct in the light of FULL and PROPER context!

You asked to verify your draft translation:

Irrespective of the actual term suggested (upon which I make no comment), your proposed translation would be quite wrong.

Clearly, you cannot measure a 'connection' — that would be just nonsensical! All you can measure is the 'process' being sampled at that 'connection' point. it's vital to understand here that it is referring to a connection INTO the process line in order to in some way sample what is happening in it (pressure, temperature, etc.)
