- “social worker” = “social work practitioner”
- “senior practitioner” (fonction de “team leader”)
- “principal practitioner” (fonction de “service manager”)

Grande-Bretagne, exemple de fiche de poste de “Senior Practitioner” : http://www.essexsocialwork.co.uk/children/jobs/senior-practi...

Irlande du Nord, “Review of the roles and deployment of Senior and Principal Social Work Practitioners in Northern Ireland – June 2014” : http://www.dhsspsni.gov.uk/index/ssi/ssi-social-work-strateg...

neutral Victoria Britten : That's definitely the right idea, but I don't know enough to be able to give a definite "agree" to the terminology. Let's hope someone else who really knows the French social services will soon come along and confirm!

Thanks. I have a rather thorough knowledge of French social services (State, departments) and graduating trainings/diplomas. No such official grades in France, and any kind of grade transposition would be hazardous in my humble opinion.
neutral Daryo : yes for "travailleur social" /OTOH "senior" doesn't mean necessarily team leader, but "more experienced, capable of dealing with more complex cases" possibly "experimenté" ?

"Team leader" is just a try (see ref.) to summarize the function/job/grade which does include "dealing wih more complex cases" etc. // "expérimenté" is of course possible, but "confirmé" suits better in French for... grades.
agree katsy : Comparing this ad to your first link makes me agree, even though practices in SW in F and the UK are different. Agree that "senior" is not necessarily a team leader. http://www.hautsdeseine.fr/annonce/emploi/offre/travailleur-...

Thank you. Relevant reference indeed, including regarding "team leader". Among others, just one of the usual characteristics of senior social workers jobs/grades, be it in FR or UK; including here: "vous assurez la coordination de l'activité".

disagree Victoria Britten : In Britain, in any case, it will be a (senior) social worker and definitely not a doctor managing the case

neutral erwan-l : I strongly doubt too it might a physician/doctor in this case. Moreover, "practitioner" does not at all systematically refer to medical professions.

disagree Daryo : any reference that "practitioner" - senior or otherwise - could be a job title for an MD?

pourquoi ce terme "practioner" est-il utilisé dans ce cas ? Il s'agit d'un cas d'abus sexuel et la présence d'un médecin ne semble anormal pour apprécier les traumatismes.
