Can this be just said "the position of the end portion in a case where the upper-half housing is mounted on the lower-half housing"?
I wonder if "in a case where" is fine or just "when" would be better in this case.
Is "in a case where" too hypothetical?

The whole sentence is here:

取り付けられていない場合における端部の位置との差
