French to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Sous réserve des limitations de responsabilité, XXXX sera responsable pour les coûts directement liés à la récupération de ces équipements lorsqu'un tel dépôt est uniquement attribuable à seule négligence de XXXX.

May seem like a simple question but I'm getting in a tangle!

Discussion

Jenny Cowd (asker) Nov 17, 2014:
Phil, can you submit your suggestion of "incident". I've gone for that in the end as I think it's the only answer that makes sense considering the context. Maybe "blockage" would work too.
Tony M Nov 16, 2014:
Surely... ...doesn't it just mean that there is a build-up of some kind of unwanted 'deposit' in the pipeline, and it is this that causes the pig to get stuck?
philgoddard Nov 16, 2014:
If it does mean getting stuck, and I'm really not sure, then something like "event" or "incident" would fit the bill.
Jenny Cowd (asker) Nov 15, 2014:
the ligne is a gas/oil pipeline but the depot isn't mentioned anywhere else. It definitely refers to a pig/pipeline cleaning tool getting stuck though.
AllegroTrans Nov 14, 2014:
Context still missing There are a good many possibilities here so we need to know more about what the equipment is, what the contract is about and anything else about "un tel dépôt" (which has obviously been mentioned in the preceeding paragraph)
philgoddard Nov 14, 2014:
Well, you still haven't said what this is about, and I don't know what the "équipement" and the "ligne" are, but from the context the "dépot" appears to refer to the act of getting stuck (coincé).
Jenny Cowd (asker) Nov 14, 2014:
En outre, chaque fois que de l'équipement de XXX devient coincé dans la ligne et pour une raison quelconque, YYY sera entièrement responsable de la récupération effective dudit équipement. XXX apportera son appui et une assistance complète dans la localisation de l'équipement.
philgoddard Nov 14, 2014:
Hi Jenny Could we have the full context, please? What is this about, and what does it say before this?

neutral AllegroTrans : "...dépôt est uniquement attribuable à seule négligence..."; how can a monetary desposit be due to negligence?

agree Jean-Claude Gouin : I would go with 'deposit' but not for the reason given; there is a build-up of unwanted material in the pipeline. Here, it has nothing to do with an amount of money.

disagree AllegroTrans : Doesn't work in the context, because it's about a "build-up" not the removal of same
