agree  philgoddard: It means exactly the same as "aerodynamische Formgebung" earlier in the sentence, so you could actually leave it out, especially as the sentence is so long and repetitive.

  -> The flow is what is moving, not the top of the valve plate. The shape of this part optimises the flow.
