So wurde ihm 1797
nach heftigem Streit die entsprechende Konzession erteilt. Im
Jahre 1824 wurde das Leissigbad nach einer längeren Schlies-
sung renoviert und mit neuen Einrichtungen versehen. So
kam eine "Molkenanstalt" hinzu, und als 1842 der Berner Amts-
notar Rudolf König das Bad übernahm, wurden vorwiegend
medizinische Kuren angeboten.

Danke an alle Ich lese das alles, aber so richtig kann ich mir das nicht vorstellen. Einerseits taking the waters und dann drinking whey? Aber ich denke, so halte ich es.

Ich denke, "whey cure establishment" dürfte eine gut verständliche Übersetzung sein.

Eines scheint klar zu sein: eine Molkenkur/Molkenanstalt scheint typisch für die Schweiz/Deutschland gewesen zu sein.

@ Coqueiro War das nicht Eselsmilch, worin Römerinnen angeblich badeten? Ich habe so etwas im Hinterkopf - aber das kann auch die Erfindung eines Romanschriftstellers sein.
Alles eine Frage des Geldbeutels - diese Tragerei kann nicht billig gewesen sein. Von vier Trägern habe ich schon an anderer Stelle gelesen, aber die folgende Website hat mich dann doch überrascht:

@ Brigitte Gute Quelle. Daraus geht auch hervor, dass die Molke (zumindest dort) damals getrunken wurde. Die spätrömische Dekadenz, darin zu baden, kam wohl erst später.
Sehr erheiternd finde ich diesen Abschnitt:
Seit zwei Jahren hat man die Einrichtung getroffen, daß die Patienten von ihrer Wohnung aus in offenen, bequemen Lehnsesseln von vier Männern auf beliebige Höhen getragen werden können. Es wurde hierbei die Beobachtung gemacht, daß, da diese Bewegung nicht ermüdet, hierdurch alle Hügel, Wälder, Berge, Wiesen und Alpen erreicht, und die verschiedensten Luftveränderungen ohne alle Anstrengung und Erhitzung vorgenommen werden können [...]
Das wusste ich bisher nicht, ich Trottel bergwandere noch immer selbst und das ist keineswegs ermüdungsfrei ;-)

After further research I would like to change my answer to 'whey cure'.

In the document I have linked to below it mentions that "Seit 1827 ist auch eine Molkenkur [in Leissigbad] eingerichtet worden."

Molkenkur is defined by Duden as "Naturheilverfahren, bei dem Molke als Heilmittel angewendet wird". It has been translated by many people as "whey cure" on linguee (see second link below). Sorry for providing two answers but without the comments on my previous answer, I probably would not have found this answer which I think is probably more fitting.

agree lindaellen (X) : Sorry I can't find an English equivalent, but back then milk products, and not just whey were consumed, not bathed in. "Bad" is a spa, although bathes were also taken at this place.

'establishment' and 'resort' both bring up google results. I personally like resort but I think this one is less tricky than the 'whey cure' part as there are a number of possibilities.

Jacek, this is in connection with a spa town. They "take the waters", it is definitely not a processing plant or any kind of plant. Please go to the website that I have given. Thanks anyway.
