"Old Spanish Home"

English to Spanish Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting Art museum exhibit
This is the title of a painting that shows an old, small, Spanish style home. My quandary: do I add "estilo" to my translation? or is it obvious that we are referring to the building's architectural style? Your opinion, please.

More information Looking at the painting, there's a rather small house in the distance with trees blocking the view. It's painted white and it has simple windows and one door, and it looks as if it has a red tile roof. In the US, they tend to call "Spanish style" any construction with the "típica teja andaluza", they don't know that the architectural styles of the peninsula are very diverse. The same thing happens with folkloric clothing, when they speak about a "Spanish dress", they are referring to one from Andalucía, with "volantes and polka dots".

Hola teju: He tenido el mismo caso esta semana. Mi cliente quería poner "casa española" pero una casa solo es española si está situada en España.

Creo que “la imagen” vale por mil palabras... Aunque como mi madre apostillaba: “y una idea vale por mil imágenes...”

Un título simple, creo que es siempre mejor.

También dependerá de la imagen en sí.

Pues “casa de estilo español colonial” también puede ser descriptivo (si es “español colonial”)... pero desde mi punto de vista subjetivo puedes tener “una casa española antigua” hasta en la Luna... siempre y cuando cumpla los requisitos estilísticos.

neutral Beatriz Ramírez de Haro : Hay muchos estilos de arquitectura tradicional española (el cortijo andaluz no tiene nada que ver con el pazo gallego). Lo que los angloparlantes llaman "Spanish" es otra cosa ("Spanish Style Houses" en Google / Spanish Colonial Revival architecture Wiki)
