German term or phrase: Multiplikatoren
Neben den Herstellern ist dies auch immer eine optimale Gelegenheit, mit allen wichtigen Multiplikatoren wie Fachredaktionen und Verbänden des jeweiligen Landes ins direkte Gespräch zu kommen.

Hi all,

I'm looking for some help with Multiplikatoren in this context. It's a press release about a press tour where the actors are drumming up interest in their trade fair and want to talk to all the folks (producers, manufacturers but also media and press) who can help them get new clients and promote interest in the fair.

I'm finding 'multipliers' on a few sites but I don't think this is actually a legitimate term in English yet (or am i behind the times?) I don't like it but I think disseminators is not enough. The meaning of Multiplikatoren is that they have some sway and power about the information that's being promoted too, right? Any ideas about how to neatly translate this?

Grateful for any ideas.

Thanks in advance,

Johanna

players

Explanation:
"important players" or "important players in the industry" sounds more fitting to me.
"If you want to ensure you end up with a profit when this year ends, you should already be thinking about how to create a positive development in your company now. Through our extensive contact with players in the industry, we can see that there is a list of problems that are common to almost all companies. Problems that may have grave negative consequences for your profits, but which can actually be solved easily with the right focus and tools."

Example sentence(s):
  • Through our extensive contact with players in the industry, we can see that there is a list of problems that are common to almost all companies.

Hi asker
Before you post questions, you should check the KudoZ glossary to make sure the question hasn't already been asked. Here are a couple of instances. Multiplier seems like the obvious translation, but I don't think it works: it's opinion leaders or opinion formers.

You should also Google terms before posting them here - both these previous questions come up on the first page of hits.
