En revanche, "s'en rapporter à justice", est une expression qui de fait signifie qu'en prononçant cette phrase, le conseil de la partie qu'il représente, n'a pas de moyen à opposer à son adversaire. L'avocat peut aussi déclarer qu'il s'en rapporte mais seulement sur un des points en litige, mais qu'en revanche; il entend s'opposer aux autres demandes de l'adversaire de son client. Par exemple l'avocat peut s'en rapporter quant à l'imputabilité de la faute qui est à l'origine de l'accident dont il reconnaît que son client doit répondre, et plaider cependant pour contester le montant de la réparation qui est demandée par la victime.
