Hi,
I have a document entitled "Mise en demeure préalable à procès verbal" and although I am aware of the various translations of procès verbal, I'm not sure exactly what is being threatened in this case. Official notice prior to service of a summons/instigation of legal proceedings/filing of formal complaint?
The mise en demeure is to do with a manufacturer of chemical products that had been asked by the labour inspectorate to clean up its premises (ventilation, renovation, etc.) and didn't do so.

As I understand it, the notice is issued by the inspectorate as a last chance for corrective action to be taken. If it is not taken, then a report would be made/issued to the prosecuting body.

| Yes, I also found that citation was the "North American" term for a "summons to appear in court" (Oxford dictionaries) among other things so this would be find for a US English translation but mine's UK. |
