More context makes it easier to understand - "El burdo vínculo que ha hecho el primer ministro iraquí entre Al Qaeda y los manifestantes acampados en diversas plazas de las provincias ‘rebeldes’ iraquíes no ha hecho pestañear al gobierno de Obama, por lo que se entiende que a cambio de la colaboración de Maliki en la lucha contra Al Qaeda los estadounidenses están dispuestos a permitir que se aplaste la acampada de Ramadi, como se hizo en con los manifestantes de Hawiya en abril pasado."

: Acoording to the dictionary, yes; but to me it's a spruce goose. My reluctance stems from its widespread informal, mainly US usage to mean "disgusting"...

clumsy and spurious link
I like "burdo" here and think it merits a double-barrelled epithet to get the author's meaning across. Using "doubtful" or "putative" rather than "spurious" softens the blow somewhat IMHO.

What I mean is that the "burdo vínculo" is the author's value judgement or opinion, but not necessarily true, which is something I'd try to consider when translating it.
