Board deriva da cardboard cioè cartone, carta spessa. Si usa molto per rilegare i libri. Spesso questo tipo di rilegatura usando cartoncino si chiama brossura in italiano.

: Dal momento che parla di "vellum", "parchment" e intagliare pennini (mi correggo, penne "d'oca", credo che si tratti di rilegatura antica, quindi direi decisamente tavolette :) http://www.villaggiomedievale.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2...
