Hi everyone! I'm now translating a second article written by the same author as the first set of questions on here tonight. That article was on photos of El Salvador, this article is on photos of illegal gold mining in Peru. The style of this article is similar to the first, and quite hard to pick apart at times. This is the last line of the piece. Any help appreciated! Thanks!


La interacción de vídeo y fotografía obedece, en primer lugar, a los modos de la artista. En segundo lugar, cumple con la voluntad de contraponer los brillos difusos del vídeo a las fotografías hiperdefinidas de la atmósfera lúcida y permeable, que permiten establecer las coordenadas fijando el brillo como aquello residual del acontecimiento.

Literally "to how we can see/look at/view them". "Finding a way of" is a less literal alternative which may help to make it clearer.

This is fairly obscure, but I believe the meaning of "resolverse en" is the one expressed in this DRAE definition:

"10. prnl. Dicho de una cosa: Reducirse, venir a parar en otra de menor importancia en relación con lo que se creía o temía."

This is the meaning involved in "el agua se resuelve en vapor", for example.

(As in Hamlet: "Oh, that this too too solid flesh would melt / thaw and resolve itself into a dew!")

So I interpret it as "comes down to", in the sense of "is reduced to".

Given the context you have given us preceding this I would assume the word resolverse would translate as reveals / illustrates / lays out...

So the translation would be roughly something like:
"The documentary emphasis on this set of images illustrates how we can view them to avoid losing authenticity / so that authenticity is not lost....."
