Engineering (general)
"станция канатной дороги с устройством инженерной защиты" - no further context, from a list of locations a bus route runs through. Would this be best translated as "Cable car station with protective...something..."? Help please :) Thanks in advance!

Here, "инженерная" is used in the same sense as in "Corps of Engineers" in the U.S. - that is, mostly having to do with construction, earthworks, etc., hence "works" as a word broadly encompassing such things. Most likely, it's a bank of earth to catch a runaway car. "Устройство" here is equivalent to an English gerund rather than a noun - not a device but the fact of arranging/building/making. Check "устройство инженерной защиты" in any search engine for a confirmation.
