negotiable instruments

Please, note that the term "securities" is not workable, as it encompasses debentures, bonds, stocks, and evidences of indebtedness, among other. For an understanding of the nature of negotiable instruments [títulos cambiários], please, see the internet in order to find Par. 3-104(a) of the Uniform Commercial Code of the United States, and, also a definition of "títulos cambiários" along with the laws and regulations applicable to such instruments. Aside from the above, the biggest difference between negotiable instruments and securities is that the first do have an intrinsic value in themselves. They include an unconditional promise or order to pay a specified sum of money, such as a check. The later don't. They don't have a value in themselves. The value of a debenture, for instance, is dependente upon the financial condition of the promissor.
