Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters February 14 that greater engagement by the United States in the Asia-Pacific region does not come at the expense of its crucial relationship with Europe.
"In fact, we want more engagement with Europe, and we think Europe can be more of a partner," Kerry said before his first meeting since becoming secretary with European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton. He thanked the high representative, who is the EU foreign affairs chief, for her leadership and the EU for its efforts on humanitarian assistance in Syria.
