In a patient report, the heart rate is "83bpmr". I know bpm is beats per minute but what's the "r"?
Proposed translations

beats per minute at rest / resting heart rate
another educated guess. the "r" might be "a riposo"

Ok, thanks both. Looks like I'll have to go back to the client on this one. |

Comment: "I found "bpmar" somewhere which convinced me that it must be "a riposo"."
+2
43 mins
regular beats per minute
This is just an educated guess, but it could be referring to the rhythm of the heartbeat, regular with no abnormalities such as an extrasystole.

Lirka
: probably, but it is unusual. then it would be "HR 83 bpm and regular"

You're right lirka.. but I've seen how some doctors work... they are a law unto themselves!! I think it's more likely to be "regular", because if it was "resting" you would assume other readings would be given. As you say though, hard to tell!!

My own KudoZ question, asked just a couple of months ago. See Gilberto Lacchia's answer.
(And interesting that "riposo" was also suggested, just as it was here.)
