illegal and negligent act

Explanation:
"negligent act" is "a civil wrong whereby a person or party is in breach of a legal duty of care to another which results in loss or injury to the claimant". See for example here http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/negligence?s=t

"negligence" and "negligent act" are established legal terms that include causality as their main element.

Example sentence(s):
  • "in fixing liability, the law seeks out some negligent act among the many acts which form the chain of causation leading up to the result"

neutral  Eleni Bouchli: I think that you can be liable for an illegal act without being necessarily negligeable. Negligence is αμέλεια. It seems more specific to me. Don't you agree?

  -> In my opinion, it is not a simple matter of literal translation but a matter of what is the established term in legal language. The term "negligent act" means an act that results in liability. Causality is of the essence of its meaning. See references.
